Medication errors are a huge hospital risk. At least 450,000 injuries occur each year as a result of medication errors in hospitals, according to an Institute of Medicine 2006 report. But more recent estimates put the figure at closer to 1.5 million hospital medication errors annually.
Worse yet! Between 40,000 and 100,000 people die every year because doctors mistakes. This includes medication and surgical mishaps.
The best way to avoid these risks is to try to keep yourself as healthy as you possibly can. Exercise and eat right are the two best ways to insure you will not fall victim of these mistakes.
