It frightens me to think of the level of control we give over to the pharmaceutical companies, both doctors and patients. Ever since the regulations changed on how drugs could be promoted and advertised, that’s all you see on TV now. “Ask your doctor today if you need Drug X”. Many of them aren’t even clear as to what the drug is supposed to be used to treat. The list of adverse reactions and side effects is down right frightening. Many times, the side effects are more dangerous than the symptom they are supposed to be treating. It used to be that drugs were developed to treat specific aliments. Nowadays, it seems that drugs are developed first and a disease is looked for later that might benefit from them. This is NOT the way medicine should work. Yet another great article.
